CommandLink Starlink Rules and Guidelines

This page is for internal CommandLink use only.
  • Limited Logo and Photo Use.  CL and its affiliates must use the Startink's logo and photos solely in connection with promoting Starlink and its Products under the MSA in the manner described in Exhibit A of the MSA.  Section 6.1.1.  
  • Prior and Period Approval of Marketing Materials.  Prior to using Starlink or other marks in any marketing or promotional materials for the first time, and thereafter, upon reasonable request and on reasonable notice, Starlink shall have the right to review the materials CL and its affiliates use to market the Starlink services in order to ensure compliance with the MSA.  Section 6.1.2.
  • Public Announcements.  Neither party will make any public announcement (in any language) regarding the existence of or Services provided to CL by Starlink under the MSA without the prior written approval of the other party, both as to timing and substance, and in any event, no such public announcement shall be made until CL makes the initial payment to Starlink as described in an Order.  Section 6.3.1.
  • Alteration of Trademarked Material.  Neither CL nor its affiliates will alter, add to, subtract from, or otherwise modify the Trademarks, Logo or Photos as originally prepared by Starlink without the prior written consent of Starlink.  Section 6.3.2.
  • Non-Starlink Material.  Neither CL nor CL affiliates will add non-Starlink trademarks, logos or decals to the Starlink Kits that are sold or provided to End-Users, unless approved by Starlink.  Section 6.3.2.
  • Starlink” Equipment.  All hardware must be referred to as “Starlink” equipment in all Reseller and Reseller’s Affiliates promotional and marketing materials.  Section 6.3.2.
  • Damage to IP.  Neither CL nor CL’s affiliates will use the Logo in a manner that will diminish or otherwise damage Starlink’s goodwill in the Trademarks, Logo or Photos as determined by Starlink at its sole discretion.  Section 6.3.3.
  • Other IP Prohibitions.  Neither CL, CL’s affiliates nor CL’s partners will adopt, use, or register any corporate name, trade name, trademark, domain name, service mark or certification mark, or other designation that violates Starlink’s rights in the Logo or Trademarks. 
  • No Association with or Reference to Elon Musk or SpaceX.  The “SpaceX” name, logo, or other trademarks (such as Falcon, Dragon, and Starship), as well as any association whatsoever with SpaceX’s Chief Executive Officer, is excluded from the Trademark License and prohibited from being used by CL.  See 6.3.4. 
  • Requirements in Exhibit A (Starlink Trademark and Marketing Guidelines); I recommend referring to this 2 page exhibit directly as well)
    • Do not share any material externally until it is approved by SpaceX/Starlink. 
    • All material shared internally within your organization should be stamped “Internal, Privileged and Confidential.” 
    • No public announcement on your relationship with Starlink or this Agreement without the prior written approval, both as to timing and substance. No public announcement until the initial payment has been paid to Starlink. Starlink and Reseller will work together to prepare a mutually acceptable joint announcement and additional public relations and social media content regarding launch of the Services. 
    • Prior approval by Starlink to use the Starlink Trademarks (Logo, Images, Videos and Content Usage) in any marketing or promotional materials for the first time, and thereafter upon request. You may use the Logo specified below and Photos available at this https://api.starlink.com/public-files/starlink_share/Starlink_Images.zip.
    • If CL and its Affiliates are approved by Starlink to engage with a Reseller Partner (as defined in the Agreement), CL's name must be included in all promotional and marketing materials produced by CL and/or the Reseller Partner. Such promotional and marketing materials must also clearly state that all costs related to Kits and Services will be billed and provided directly by CL or your Affiliates as the authorized Starlink Reseller. 
    • You and your Affiliates may change the size of the Logo and Photos, but you and your Affiliates may not otherwise alter the images of the Logo and Photos in any manner, including but not limited to, changing the proportion, color, or font of the Logo, or adding or removing any element(s) from the Logo. 
    • You and your Affiliates may not use the Logo or Photos in any manner that implies sponsorship or endorsement by Starlink or SpaceX other than as specifically authorized under the Agreement. 
    • You and your Affiliates may not use the Logo or Photos to disparage Starlink, its Products or Services, or in a manner which, in Starlink’s sole discretion, may diminish or otherwise damage or tarnish Starlink’s goodwill. 
    • Under no circumstance should the Logo be placed on any background which interferes with the readability or display of the Logo. 
    • You and your Affiliates may not use the Logo to produce any merchandise. 
    • You and your Affiliates must identify your company as an “Authorized Starlink Reseller” including on your website or in marketing materials, but exclusively for activities approved under this Agreement.
    • First announcement (e.g. Press release, announcements, videos, banners, ads, on website) in the first hours and few days: You are welcome to use “SpaceX’s Starlink”, “Starlink by SpaceX” or Starlink, engineered by SpaceX” in these announcements. Please do not use the name of any executives from SpaceX unless otherwise approved. 
    • Later follow-on media (e.g. TV, events, conferences, panels, Social media, ads, paid marketing): Please use “Starlink” branding in material. 
    • If you would like to include an “About Starlink by SpaceX” section, please use the following language: Starlink delivers high-speed, low-latency internet to users all over the world. As the world's first and largest satellite constellation using a low Earth orbit, Starlink delivers broadband internet capable of supporting streaming, online gaming, video calls and more. Starlink is engineered and operated by SpaceX. As the world’s leading provider of launch services, SpaceX is leveraging its deep experience with both spacecraft and on-orbit operations to deploy the world’s most advanced broadband internet system.
    • Avoid any indication that the deal is exclusive or not (this includes terms like “partnership”, “joint venture” or “collaboration”).
    • End-Users and Reseller Partners, if applicable, are not authorized to use Starlink Trademarks. 
    • You and your Affiliates will not add non-Starlink trademarks, logos or decals to the Starlink Kits that are sold or provided to End-Users, unless approved by Starlink. All hardware must be referred to as “Starlink” equipment in all Reseller and Reseller’s Affiliates promotional and marketing materials. 
    • Avoid names of any executives from SpaceX unless otherwise approved. 
    • Avoid commenting on regulatory or legal authorizations in any country. 
    • Avoid sharing any details of the Agreement. 
    • Avoid using any rocket launch or satellite constellation images or videos that are not approved by SpaceX. 
    • Avoid re-purposing images, video and other media content that features SpaceX or SpaceX executives not provided to you by the Starlink team. Please ask us if you have a certain video in mind (we will need to approve its use anyways given the commercial requirements above). 
    • Affiliate marketing, defined as paying affiliates or partners a commission for driving traffic or sales to your website are prohibited. 
    • Amazon advertising, inclusive of selling Starlink products on Amazon is prohibited. 
    • Your account team can provide official Trademark assets to support your marketing needs. All creative works such as ads, content, images, audio, and video produced under this Agreement must be submitted for review. Please reach out to your account team for any additional clarification. 
    • Please follow branding guidelines and submit all material for review. 
      • Any references to Starlink in an advertisement must be factual and accurate. 
      • Any images, video, or other content used to produce the advertisement must be provided to you by Starlink. 
      • Any claims or messages that deviate from the communication guidelines above must be reviewed by Starlink. 
      • Any paid media advertising plans must be shared with Starlink. Paid media includes digital, search engine marketing, print, social, TV, out-of-home, and email. 
    • You may only tag the following from company verified official accounts: X.comhttps://x.com/Starlink
    • Please send any marketing material to your account team for review and approval. Reviewing material can take 3-5 business days, so please submit plans in advance, particularly since multiple iterations may be required. Please reach out to your account team for any additional clarification. 
    • Please include English translation for any material that is not in English.
